5 Must-Do's for a Healthier Life
Even though there are many ways we can create a healthier lifestyle I believe there are 5 Must-Do's that are essential for creating a solid baseline for a healthy life.
These 5 Must-Do's include:
1. Make time for YOU
When we say 'I just don't have time' what we're really saying is 'I'm just not making me a priority'. The thing is, when you take time out for yourselves and do the things that make you feel good, whether it be a walk in nature, a 5 minute meditation, a yoga class, a relaxing bath or something else, you are filling yourself up with GOODNESS and that goodness ripples out to everyone around you. You are not only benefiting yourself by taking time out, you are benefiting others by giving them the better version of you instead of the depleted version. Give yourself permission to take time out for you.
2. Get Inspired
Surround yourself with people who lift you up, motivate you and encourage you to be your best self. Spend more time listening to and learning from the people who inspire you. One of my personal favourite ways to do this is to listen to Podcasts. They can be such a great way to open your mind to new possibilities.
3. Make Healthy Eating and Nutrition a Priority
In order to help our bodies thrive we must feed it well! We can't expect to live a healthy lifestyle if we're eating processed, packaged, sugar-laden foods everyday. Pay attention to the food you are eating and stick to fresh, whole, 'real' food as much as possible. Make it a priority to be mindful of the food you're choosing; is it nourishing your body or depleting your body?
4. Get Moving
The body loves to move, not to stagnate. Incorporate enjoyable movement into your daily schedule. Note the word enjoyable. Discover what type of movement you find fun so that you don't need to rely on 'motivation' to keep going, rather you keep going because you love it. When we link pleasure to movement the likelihood of it becoming a daily habit is tenfold.
5. Create daily routines
Morning and night routines are so key to starting and ending your day in an empowering and positive way. Set up a morning and/or night routine that works for you and that has you feeling more energetic/relaxed, organised and positive. Experiment with it until you find what works really well. For me, I love to incorporate movement and meditation into my morning routine and self-care and relaxation into my night routine.
