9 Things to Ditch & Switch

There are certain things in this life that we're just better off without, and if you are really ready to step into a healthier, happier more fulfilling life here are the 9 things you need to ditch and switch: 

Fad Diets

Yep Its time to ditch the diet. It's time to stop restricting, depriving and counting calories! It's not fun, which means its not sustainable. We want to switch to creating healthy eating habits that feel good to us, that fit in with our unique lifestyle and that support us to our natural, optimal weight. We need to switch our focus from the diet mentality and start listening to our own unique bodies to discover the foods that work best for us. 

Negative self talk

We all have a 'Negative Nancy' living in our heads, that inner voice critiquing our every move. The trick to ditching negative self talk, is to become aware of it. Bring awareness to your thinking and notice when it's negative. When a thought is not serving you switch it to a new thought that does. Instead of putting energy into a negative thought and getting caught up in the negative 'story', CHOOSE a new thought that actually serves and supports you in a positive way. 

Excuses

Its time to ditch the excuses that keep us stuck. Again, just simply being aware of when we are using excuses that keep us from moving forward, is the first step to moving through them. Recognise when you make an excuse and switch it for a reason to take action. It's time to take responsibility for our own lives and take small action steps consistently in the direction that we want to head.  

Limiting Beliefs

Our belief systems are created at an early age and as we grow and change some of our old stagnate beliefs need to be updated. Especially the limiting beliefs that no longer serve us. It takes work and effort to ditch these deeply embedded beliefs but the more we work at changing and switching them to new empowering beliefs, the more we can upgrade our system so that we get more of the things that we really want. Because ultimately what we believe is what we achieve.  

Refined Sugar & Processed Foods

Two of the biggest culprits for health and weight related issues. Refined sugar and processed foods have been stripped of all their nutritional value. Our bodies need nutrients and nourishment to thrive and to function optimally. When we consume these nutritionally void foods our bodies start to suffer so lets start to ditch them and instead switch to whole foods that are full of life, flavour and nutrition. 

Unsupportive Habits  

Just like our negative thoughts and limiting beliefs, we need to update our habits. Recognise the patterns of behaviour you do automatically that are not giving you the results you want, and begin to ditch them by switching your routine with new behaviours that do support you in getting what you want. 

Body Loathing

Hating on your body doesn't help you get the body you want. When we come from this place we create a tarnished relationship with our body and self image which leads to a whole host of other issues. It's time to ditch the loathing and body shame, and switch to loving yourself healthy. Nurture your body with self care, kindness, respect and high quality foods. It's a much more enjoyable and empowering approach in my opinion.  

Comparing

The comparison trap can be detrimental to our self worth, self esteem and overall health, its time to ditch the comparisons and switch to self acceptance and self love. Start loving all the unique qualities that make up you. 

Guilt, Judgement and Shame  

The viscous cycle that happens when we place judgement, guilt and shame on ourselves is not productive and doesn't help us move forward. Whenever you notice yourself feeling guilty or judging yourself, ditch and switch into curiosity mode. When we get curious about our choices and our actions we start to learn from them and we are able to make more supportive choices moving forward.
